For those of you who know me I’ve said this time and time again, don’t be complacent with your daily hygiene products, we’ve covered the issues with big name toothpastes in the past, now I’d like to bring your attention to Antiperspirant Deodorants.
Deodorants of course are sprayed under your arms to help control body odour, and unfortunately almost all of the supermarket versions you see are jammed packed with chemicals that are being absorbed straight into your lymph nodes.
For many years we’ve read and seen reports and we are aware that aluminium is a very toxic metal and is linked to alzheimer's disease, yet so many of us are spraying on deodorants with up to 25% aluminium every day as part of our daily hygiene ritual. This is very dangerous because our lymph nodes and under arm skin is very porous which allows sweat and toxins out of our body easily however it also absorbs what we put on the outside and allows it to travel into our body as well.
In a recent study researchers found significantly increased levels of aluminum in nipple aspirate fluid from women with breast cancer compared to women without the disease.
So that’s two big diseases that have been directly linked to the effects of toxic antiperspirant deodorants and each year researchers are making more and more discoveries along the same lines with more common disease linkages.
So here’s your sweat system works
Our apocrine glands produce sweat which bacteria breaks down causing the odour. Antiperspirants block sweat production in your underarms; sweating helps your body to eliminate toxins, which supports proper immune function and helps prevent diseases related to toxic overload. Deodorants are designed to mask the scent of odour by containing anti bacterials to kill the bacteria that causes the odour and fragrances. However as we all know it’s short lived and the bacteria returns and smells return in a short period of time. Then the toxic process begins all over again with a new application of Antiperspirant.
For your health we need to break this cycle and look to products without the toxicity levels, it’s best to really look at the ingredients that make up your deodorant, so here’s a quick list of what to avoid:
- Parabens (methyl, ethyl, propyl, benzyl and butyl) - Dangers for health linked to breast cancer.
- Aluminum compounds (Aluminum chlorohydrate, aluminum zirconium tetrachlorohydrex gly) - Dangers for health linked to breast cancer.
- Silica - Dangers for health cancer, allergies/immunotoxicity
- Triclosan - Dangers for health skin irritation, contact dermatitis, cancer.
- Talc - Dangers for health linked to cancer.
- Propylene Glycol - Dangers for health delayed allergic reactions, possible kidney and liver damage.
- Steareth-n - Dangers for health linked to cancer.
- Fragrance - Dangers for health skin irritation, harmful to the environment, allergies and organ system toxicity.
So what is the healthy solution to toxic chemical laden deodorants?
I’m super passionate about living a clean and natural life, and all of the evidence of toxicity and health issues using regular deodorants is why I spent a year developing a safe alternative. This alternative not only is a safe and healthy alternative to use daily to combat odour, but it also improves your underarm biome leading to you producing less odour naturally.
To enable this result I've added probiotics to my natural deodorant and I know that might sound a little odd at first, but trust me there is an amazing reason as to why I have done it, and it really has produced incredible results throughout the testing.
